The unanswered and unusual letter of the iranian president to US president Bush raises many questions and enigmas. Is it provocation, propaganda, criticism or invitation?

There is a very dangerous phenomenon that seems to be occurring in the United States of America; something that I refer to as "the dumbing-down of the American mind," a nearly willful tendency for Americans to forgo reality in favor of believing what they want to believe. But how could such a thing have occurred in such a proud nation, one that, according to George Bush, has become known as a bastion of freedom and democracy, a bright light for the whole world to see?

We call on the US administration to take the bold step of opening a direct dialogue with the Iranian government on the issue of Iran's nuclear program.

The latest offering from the Bush administration is a nuclear attack on Iran; after only a few years in power this insane administration is ready to wage nuclear warfare! If this is not cause for alarm then resign yourselves to your fate (lemmings).

Mainstream media has largely ignored two recent events that would have attracted sustained media attention in the past. Half a million Hispanics and other protesters flooded the streets of LA while in France a staggering three million protesters confronted the authorities. These protests occurred in quick succession but barely rated a mention in the popular press. Activists and analysts have been aware for some time that the independence and impartiality of the mass media has been compromised. Regardless of the magnitude and impact of a specific event, if it is considered to be incompatible with certain interests, it is disregarded.
