Colin Powell trying to play Johnny Cochran at the UN, on Feb. 6th, flopped. There was no "smoking gun." It was hearsay, built on hearsay, built on lots of shaky suppositons. His totally irrelevant charge that Saddam had been aiding the al Qaeda Terror Network is a silly canard, that had recently been raised by the Israeli windbag, Ariel Sharon. Where are Powell's witnesses? Where is the evidence?

Here's a scary thought: The U.S. will now be following Zionist Israel’s “lead” in the fight on terrorism, and, “politically,” too. John Podhoretz, ranting in the NY Post (01/29/03), also predicted that if the Democrats don’t “glue themselves to George W. Bush’s side on matters of war and terror,” they could end up big losers, like the leftist Labor Party, in Israel, did in its recent election. I believe that a U.S. attachment to the ideals of the Sharonists will lead to endless, costly wars, including the phony one looming ahead with Iraq, and, eventually, to Armageddon.

This month, nine weeks into the UN inspections of Iraq, the team led by Hans Blix documented 16 empty, forgotten warheads from short-range rockets. The White House spokesman tried to claim this military scrap was a "smoking gun"--a cause for war--but the rest of the world did not agree.

Globe & Mail (1/30/03)
Large crowds at the World Social Forum attended the speeches of Noam Chomsky, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and Higo Chavez. But, Naomi Klein asks, "how on earth did a gathering that was supposed to be a showcase for new grassroots movements become a celebration of men with a penchant for three-hour speeches about smashing the oligarchy?"
