Pax Christi/Baltimore and other co-sponsoring groups will present a "Tent of Abraham" interfaith peace event on Sunday, October 8, 2006 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the American Friends Service Committee building, 4806 York Road. The event will feature participation from Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths.

For years America perceived the Democratic Party as the party for working class people and protecting American jobs; today this party is no friend to working class people. The party has joined the Republican Party to suppress wages; the party has supported foreign trade affecting the income of millions of Americans and the ranks of the unemployed are fueling crime, poverty and misery.

A recent study strikingly confirms this thesis. Shlomo Ben-Ami was Israel's Foreign Minister and key Israeli negotiator at the Camp David and Taba meetings in 2000-1. In his new book, Scars of War, Wounds of Peace: The Israeli-Arab Tragedy (Oxford: 2006), Ben-Ami covers a lot of the same ground as my own Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict (Verso: 2003).
