Teach-In on Free Trade Area of Americas

The World Trade Organization meets in Cancun, Mexico September 12-14. The Free Trade Area of the Americas meeting is November 20-21 in Miami, Florida. Both meetings will attempt to make decisions that benefit multinational corporations at the expense of people and the environment. The Coalition against Global Exploitation and the Student Labor Action Committee present a teach-in to educate on the issues.

No Bear Hunting in NJ! Rides to rally!

The Fund for Animals and HSUS are co-sponsoring a
bus to take Virginia/Baltimore/Maryland/DC
activists to New Jersey to help support a rally at
Governor McGreevey's mansion. The ride and lunch
are free for activists. We are protesting because
in March the New Jersey Fish and Game Council
voted to allow the hunting of bears in the state
for the first time in decades.

The metaphor for the US continued occupation of Iraq is a story that comes from ABC News online. The military supplied the Baghdad fire department with nylon T-shirts that said appropriately "Baghdad Fire Department" Inappropriately, it was written in English and not Arabic. Of course, being nylon it will burn off in the first big fire. (abcnews.com)
