ANTI-SEMITISM ALIVE AND WELL IN SOUTHERN U.S.A.
In a dictatorship, a Jew can be persecuted simply because
he is a Jew. In a democracy, those who wish to persecute
the Jew must find some other pretext -- preferably one
that tempts his friends to desert him for fear of being
tarred with the same brush. But if the persecutors are
not careful, their real motive can be discovered by
comparing their treatment of the Jew with their treatment
of others who are being pursued on similar or more
serious pretexts.
