A composition worth owning

For a long while now - I had the ugly feeling that we are collectively placed at the "fait accompli" resolved situation and asked if we do or do we NOT "support our troops". This is my support for the troops. It quickly becomes a moot point once our boys are overseas. Of course we'll support the troups, and wish them a safe return.

picture of our president Bush, composed of the soldiers who died (so far) during the war in Iraq. A picture does tell a thousand stories.
Hello troops,

I support you. But I also have some misgivings. If we were to suppose that Orca whales were to attack all of Califonia and we dispatch our entire Navy into the Pacific to fight orca whales, whose side are we on? Now that our boys (and girls) are there and fighting, of course everybody in their right mind would support them. My misgivins are more along the lines was it really the only course of action? Was it really necessary to make war with no plans for peace. Often times it is much harder to make peace than make war. If this war was somebody's ego trip - we may have sacrificed a lot of young lives on the altar of vanity.

The picture I have found on Miami's version of the Independent Media Center and all credit goes to this guy Joe, who made it.

I think Teddy Roosevelt's quote, would be very appropriate here: “The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly as necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else.”
