A Call for Writers
The Youth and Militarism Program of the American Friends Service Committee, an independent Quaker organization founded in 1917, is seeking progressive thinking writers, lecturers, non-profit agency staff & leaders, as well as activists from all walks of life interested in contributing essays and articles to our online Youth and Militarism Magazine - http://www.afsc.org/militarismnews.htm. The magazine is a monthly online publication of the Youth & Militarism program.
This is a non-paid opportunity and prospective submissions should relate to the overall mission of the Youth & Militarism program, which is to address the impact of war and military institutions on young people's lives. The issues the Youth & Militarism program works on are as follows:
Alternatives to the Military
Conscientious Objection
Draft Registration/Resistance
GI Bill
Recruitment and Enlistment
ASVAB Testing
JROTC
Student Rights
Gays and Lesbians & the Military
People of Color & the Military

You can find out more about our program and the broad range of issues we cover by going to our website at http://www.afsc.org/youthmil/.
Anyone interested can respond by email to Oskar Castro at ocastro@afsc.org. Please indicate as much information about yourself, your writing background, your reason for wanting to submit and the type of article/s you are interested in writing.
Youthful writers, a fairly subjective term but meant to specifically mean typical high school and college aged individuals, are strongly encouraged to submit ideas for articles as well.
