Careers Working for Social Justice-Workshop in the Baltimore/D.C. area February 25th - February 27th

The Organizing Institute (OI) is a paid job training and placement program for people who want to make a difference by working as a union organizer. We are looking for motivated individuals with a passion for fighting for civil and economic rights.
The Program begins with a 3-day intensive classroom training that uses case scenarios, role-plays, and discussion to teach folks what it is like to be a union organizer, how campaigns are run, and why unions are so important to workers.

Then, Organizing Institute trainees are placed into a 2-week orientation to field training with a union that leads to a 3-month apprenticeship and eventual job placement. During the field training, the pay is $450/week plus housing and transportation costs and basic health benefits. Graduates of our program have a 98% placement rate in jobs as union organizers. Starting salary for organizers is between $28,000-$35,000 a year depending on the union and location.
