Most animal advocates these days are talking about how to treat chickens bound for KFC and sending out appeals in support of purportedly humane veal.

Arguments about how nonhumans ought to live and be treated on farms are not only restricted to discussions of husbandry and cost-benefit analyses by their very nature; but nowadays, they are almost equivalent to planning the arrangement of the Titanic's deck chairs. Animal-based agriculture, combined with the current rate of population growth, is predicted to cause structural global famine in less than a decade. Moreover, due to the effects of methane, nitrous oxide, and fossil fuel use, it is a key contributor to climate change. And if activists do not address that issue head-on, and do it now, it will very likely be too late.

As for most self-proclaimed environmentalists, most don't seem to worry too much about any of it...
