“The Elections in Palestine and Iraq: What Lies Ahead?”
A Talk by Junaid Ahmad
Wednesday, Febuary 16th @ 7pm
Pace Center – 700 W. Franklin St.
Richmond, VA

The elections in Palestine and Iraq have been flaunted by the U.S.
government and media as ushering in a new era of democracy and change in the
Middle East. However, outstanding issues such as occupation and continuing
war remain unresolved and therefore it is likely that if conditions do
change, they will take a turn for the worse.

Come hear Junaid Ahmad discuss the elections of these two occupied lands.
Can democracy co-exist with occupation? What do these elections really
mean? How will they affect our work for global justice and peace?

Junaid Ahmad works with the Center for Progressive Islam and is an activist
with the Amnesty International chapter of Tidewater/Hampton Roads. His
writings have appeared in Left Turn and on Znet.
He is a member of the Steering Committee of the VA Anti-War Network.
