Baltimore Rising Meeting Notes for January 2nd

17 people in attendence (including new people from Bel Air and Anne Arundel County!)

Groups people in attendence are involved with: Reclaim The Streets, Baltimore Anarchist Union, Turn You Back On Bush, Coalition Against Global Exploitation, AFSCE, Red Emma's, Baltimore anti-war organizing (a new group is foming apparently), Food Not Bombs, Pitch Black Rage, Women's Health Collective, and Baltimore Men's Group.

-Legal Training in Baltimore. tentatively the 15th of January with someone from the DC National Lawyers Guild doing the training. more info asap.

-Mobilization For Global Justice in DC is holding trainings as well between January 4th and the 16th. Check Baltimore IMC newswire for info:www.baltimore.indymedia.org

-Convergence Center has been secured in DC. on New York Ave. check www.counter-inaugural.org for more info

-Interactive map of DC and the protests is online. check inauguralmap.com. It has metro info, access points, demo starts, etc...

-Medic Trainings in Baltimore were supposed to be the 8th and 9th of January but its unconfirmed. if anyone has info please post to baltimorerising-AT-yahoogroups.com

-Turn Your Back On Bush has lots of media attention and expects 1000's to participate in their act. they need people to hand out flyers at the demos, people to answer media calls, and to do on the ground organizing in DC. They also need people to do communications work in DC. contact: action-AT-turnyourbackonbush.org

-Baltimore Queer Fist Support group: a seperate list has been set up for local queer and trans identified persons and their allies to support the Queer Fist mobilization coming to DC. The mostly Northeast contingent is expecting a large turnout. Locally there is a Femme Militia being organized to participate as well as people doing work getting printed maps (with safer spaces marked out), contacting medical and legal in DC in regards to queer and trans issues, and seeing what can be done about getting a safer space secured at the convergence center in DC. there is also talk about doing strong Jail Solidarity in regards to this bloc. It is likely that the Queer Fist Contingent will be targeted and need alot of support should their be arrests.
