Israeli Authorities Seek to Dismantle Workers' Advice Center
with Assaf Adiv, National Coordinator, Workers'
Advice Center (WAC)

WAC is an active association that has distinguished itself not only by finding jobs for unemployed Arab workers in Israel, but also by placing their issue on the public agenda. The Israeli Registrar of
Non-Profit Associations claims that WAC's activities do not match its declared purposes and that it serves as a front for a political party, the Organization for Democratic Action. WAC's successes in placing
workers testify to the contrary. At present, 600 mostly construction workers, depend on WAC's organizing activities.

Revitalizing the Labor Movement
with Elaine Bernard, Harvard Trade Union Program

The current debate over direction for the labor movement is focusing on resources and structure, but Elaine Bernard speaking at a Conference
on the Future of the Labor Movement organized by Queen College Labor Resource Center, challenged unions to question its goals and direction and rely more on its diversity of membership to revitalize a
dying movement. She also points to the successes enjoyed by the Canadian labor movement to illustrate how labor can be a movement.
