Appalachians have been called a lot of things. Backward. Isolated. Ignorant. Hillbilly. We've been dehumanized for many years, marginalized in order to have our lives and lands exploited by outsiders. But we keep on, trying to make the best with what we've got. Trying to make our world a better place. Trying to remember our roots while we fight for justice.
It's too easy for us to feel overwhelmed, burnt-out. Too easy to forget that there are others working tirelessly through the same struggles.
Come together this spring for the West Virginia Economic Justice Coalition's second annual spring conference. Get together with fellow activists from the region and share experiences. Learn a lot. Have a good time and rejuvenate.
