Take action against War-profiteers! We have to start somewhere...
Toys R Us is among several corporations that received reparations from Iraq (see article – “Why is war-torn Iraq giving $190,000 to Toys R Us?” -
www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1328887,00.html). The company claimed they “lost revenue” during the invasion of Kuwait in 1991, so they made a claim to the United Nations Compensation Committee. They received $190K from a country that can’t even afford decent water or sewage for its people.
Even people who are pro-war would be opposed to this, if they were informed. Because Toys R Us is sensitive to a consumer boycott, we should take action. We can send the message to them, and other companies, that this is unacceptable.
Action against Toys R Us
1.) Demonstrations and Boycotts
On Saturday, 12/18 at 1pm, we will demonstrate in front of Toys R Us in Danbury CT (near the mall), to make this issue visible and hand out information to those interested. If there is a Toys R Us near you, please consider holding a demonstration at the same time.
2.) Write letters to the company
Tell them why you won’t shop there this holiday season. Ask that they return the $190,000 back to the people of Iraq.

3.) Educate and inform others.
Tell people about this injustice. Write editorials to newspapers. Even those who support the war would frown upon a company profiting like this.
