Wanted:

Your old clothes, dishes, bikes, household items, shoes, toys, games, etc. for the Baltimore Free Store.

Much like a thrift store the Baltimore Free Store takes your leftover and unwanted items and redistributes them back into the communities that need them most. Unlike a thrift store everything at the Baltimore Free Store is absolutely FREE. As of now the Baltimore Free Store will be holding at least two set ups before the holidays in either churches or community centers. In the long run the Baltimore Free Store will have a permanent home with a location for the drop off of donations and for "shopping" around.

In this society we waste so much while there are those who struggle just to support themselves with the bare essentials. Many of us feel dropping off old goods at a Goodwill or Salvation Army is doing our part, but you may or may not know that many of the items you drop off go straight to the garbage dump. Understaffed, lack of space, need to generate profit, etc. all account for items that never get looked at, bags of clothes tossed in the dumpster, quality items sent to the trash dump when they could be provided to those who need them. This is where the Baltimore Free Store comes in. Completely volunteer run, and still to this point with little cost or overhead, the Baltimore Free Store takes your leftover items and provides them for free to those who need them. This isn't a charity. This isn't a church run organization. This isn't a politician's scam to get some votes. This is people who see a segment of society who has more than enough and wastes more than their share, and in contrast a segment of society who barely has enough struggling just to get by. We step in to bridge the gap, to bring the two together; those who have stuff they don't need and those who need stuff they don't have. So help out and donate your unwanted items. Recycle, cut back on waste, help out those in need and curb a little consumption.

If you would like to donate items, please no furniture or large items at this time, contact baltimorefreestore-AT-yahoo.com . We can set up a time for you to either drop stuff off or for one of us to pick up items from you. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Be on the look out for a future Baltimore Free Store where you can donate your items and volunteer your time.

P.S. We are also in need of racks to hang clothes on, shelving, carpet, hangers, display cases, and an old van or truck.
