"A Patriot Act"

Tuesday, October 26 @ Creative Alliance

Doors Open: 7:30 PM

Creative Alliance brings renowned media critic and author Mark Crispin Miller to The Patterson for the Baltimore premiere of his new video expose. Provocative, funny and chilling A Patriot Act reveals the extreme threats to our Constitution posed by an extremely powerful religious movement within the Bush administration. Originally presented as a special performance on the stage of The New York Theatre Workshops, A Patriot Act was written by and stars Mark Crispin Miller and was produced by Good Films. Miller uses news and audio clips, internet information, historical resources and a sleight of hand magician to reveal the influence of fundamentalist ideology at every level of our government. His galvanizing, often hilarious performance inspires audiences to go out looking for a good political fight because "American democracy is in serious trouble."

A professor of Media Studies at New York University, Miller has written on film, tv, propaganda and rock music. He is author of the Bush Dyslexicon and Cruel and Unusual: Bush/Cheney's New World Order. Before joining the faculty of NYU, Miller served as director of film studies at Johns Hopkins University where he earned his doctorate in English. Miller also had a long running show on then WJHU-FM that considered issues in the contemporary media.

Miller pressed for the rapidly booked show because he felt strongly that A Patriot Act should be shared with Baltimore before the Nov 2nd election. Miller will be on hand to introduce and answer questions about the piece. Miller's last two night run at The Patterson generated clamorous requests for his return!
