After the RNC is a time of local organizing and recuperation. But we must prepare every RNC protestor for the next national-scale resistance: the Million Worker March, post-Election Day local actions, and the Counter-Inaugural.
We call upon all groups to begin organizing immediately for the next national scale events, while you do your community and region-based work.
There are several major actions that we must prepare the stage for, but first we should all realize what the RNC has done to us and what we require in its aftermath.
After the RNC, there is a lot of defensive work (legal support, etc.), reportbacks, and recuperation for street protest activists. It is a time to refocus on our local struggles and community organizing. It is a time of slight rest and reloading our reserve budgets and supplies. We have won many victories and learned many lessons to be reflected upon during our work in New York, but we must keep people united and in the streets. Simultaneously, the more moderate sectors of the movement among us will work diligently on the elections and their campaign to 'de-select' Bush, which will also cost a lot of resources and energy.
Meanwhile, there will be a national mobilization to Washington D.C. for the Million Worker March, and those among us who participate in 'Red' style worker-oriented organizing should push our utmost to support this:

Then, the election will come. It is incumbent upon us as a movement to challenge our selves and every sector, whichever position it holds on electoral work, to call for local actions in the month of November after election day. Some groups will protest at the debates and at other election-related events, while others will campaign aganst the GOP, but we must reconsolidate our forces after November 2nd, and prepare people that are planning to vote to step into the ballot box Nov. 2nd, and step into the streets Nov. 3rd!

The most likely specific day of action, although this must be initiated by Veterans groups, would be Veterans Day, in which we may have a call-to-action for everyone to participate or organize a local protest or event against the warmongering policies of whichever candidate has by then been elected. This is assuming 2000 is not repeated, in which case we should have a contingency to mobilize and take action in the event of a drawn out fraudulent election. Groups that are Direct Action-oriented, radical, progressive, anti-war, anti-free trade, etc., will be more than likely to continue the resistance after November 2nd, but we must challenge everyone to work to sustain the millions-strong movement in localized actions after Election Day.
Then and now, we must all prepare and organize to build a one-day national mobilization that may very well be even larger than the week of resistance against the RNC: Inauguration Day! Hundreds of thousands, millions if we can, should be organized and prepared to descend upon Washington D.C. to show the United States government that we are still in the opposition, we are still united, we are still the majority, and we are still strong! ANSWER is among those groups which is already planning for the Counter-Inaugural, but this must be a product of cross-movement planning, and cannot be monopolized by one of the national coalitions.
Some people will doubtlessly argue for a non-violent, legal demonstration, while others will push ahead for direct action and civil disobedience. Both will occur and must be complementary. The Counter-Inaugural will be an easier national mobilization to organize for, because it is a one day event, albeit on a Thursday.

Groups should produce literature for these three major national events: the Million Worker March, localized post-Election Day actions, and Inauguration Day, and should announce them at all major convergences. Artists should produce posters which can be distributed. We should have everyone in the next few months thinking strategically, thinking ahead, thinking of the power of the people!
On September 1st, Panama inaugurated its new president. The incumbent was the widow of a former fascist, racist president, and the new president is the son of a former military dictator. The people of Panama protested through marches and militant action on the days before and after the inauguration to show their indignation against a system that limits them to such choices. We who live in the US Empire have an obligation to continue that struggle within the 'Homeland.'
See you in the streets!
