ANTI-RACIST ACTION TO CONFRONT NAZIS IN ELMWOOD PARK, NJ
As the neo-Nazi National Alliance (NA) prepares to hold its Northeast Leadership Conference this weekend in Elmwood Park, NJ, Anti-Racist Action (ARA) chapters from up and down the East Coast are busily organizing to confront them. Many of the anti-racist activists that came together to trounce the neo-Nazis in York, PA last January will be present in New Jersey to cement the win against white supremacy. The National Alliance meeting is being billed by the organization as a training seminar, which will be led by the organization's Deputy Membership Coordinator Billy Roper. The Anti-Racist Action Network confronts hate groups like the National Alliance whenever and wherever they organize in public. We believe it is essential to confront all hate mongers within our community, to ensure our streets are safe and hate free.
Many of the most hardcore neo-Nazi terrorists of the last two decades, terrorists such as Tim McVeigh, have been inspired to murder by the writings of the National Alliance's founder William Pierce. Recently, the National Alliance has come out from the shadows and begun a campaign of building itself publicly. This has signaled a new phase of neo-Nazi organizing in the United States. Using the events of September 11 to promote its agenda of crass anti-semitism, the National Allliance has gone public in an attempt to build a mass political base. Anti-Racist Action has always believed that the best way to undermine racist terrorism is to expose and confront its public recruitment efforts.
Anti-Racist Action has been combating hate groups like the National Alliance since 1987. Gina Fertelli of New Jersey Anti-Racist Action describes ARA as "an international movement of people dedicated to preventing and confronting racism, sexism and homophobia, as well as all other forms of bigotry. ARA is committed to preventing these issues from harming our communities. We work hard to expose and confront hate in any form that threatens the diversity and safety of our neighbors and neighborhoods."
Anti-Racist Action is committed to confronting white supremacists whenever they organize - to disregard or ignore hate groups is to simply deny history. "People ignored Hitler and the result was unspeakable tragedies were allowed to occur, leaving a stain on human history. If we turn our backs on neo-Nazis and allow them to recruit freely, our streets will soon be theirs" says Monique Rochet of New Jersey ARA. "We must organize and confront these racists, so they understand that these streets are our streets. We must show the neo-Nazis that we will not ignore them - we will never surrender our world to genocide again."
Anti-Racist Action will have a strong presence in Elmwood Park on March 23rd - we will be there to confront the neo-Nazi trash that plan to come to Elmwood Park and tell them loud and clear that they are not welcome here, or anywhere. We will do everything in our power to ensure that our communities remain free from nazi filth. This action in Elmwood Park is the begining of a campaign to roll back the tide of neo-Nazi organizing in the Northeast. After the defeat that the nazis suffered in York, PA, we feel the time is ripe to begin to dismantle their terrorist infrastructure in the region We cannot and will not rest until our entire country is a nazi-free zone.
