Baltimore activists gear up to take on Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS). HLS is a company that works hand and hand with companies such as Monsanto to get new pesticides and petro chemicals onto the market. HLS kills 500 animals each day in the process.
Activists announce local events against Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS). In the past couple of years, HLS has been exposed in 5 undercover investigations for falisfying scientific data and horiffic animal cruelty. They have been exposed punching a dog in the face, cutting up a live monkey, and violating animal welfare guidelines 520 times in just one study. In HLS' own words, animals have been described as, "rotting, but still alive."
HLS does this horific kind of testing to test personal hygene and household cleaning products. They also work with Monsanto and other pesticide and agrochemical companies to get their products out onto the market. HLS was exposed falisfying their test data to help get these products out onto the maket.
Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA (SHAC) was formed to stop HLS killing 500 animals a day, to stop HLS' hand in hand relationship with pesticide and agrochemical companies, and to stop the continual day to day animal cruelty that happens at HLS.
The Financial Times has described the SHAC campaign against HLS as, " A tiny group of activists [are] succeeding where Karl Marx, the Baader-Meinhof gang and the Red Brigades failed.”
SHAC supporter Frank Hampton is among those gearing up for local events against HLS. "When push comes to shove," Hampton says, "we will be pushing AND shoving."
