Foreign Policy In Focus (www.fpif.org) and The Sustainable Energy and Economy Network (www.seen.org) will hold a citizens' conference for education and action on oil and its relationship to politics and power on January 6-8, 2004.

The "National Summit on PetroPolitics" will bring together representatives of labor, the global justice movement, peace activists, environmental organizers, students and leaders from communities of color and faith to talk about the many ways in which our nation's dependence on oil impacts the economy, foreign policy, and the environment.

The conference's featured speakers include many experts who question the Bush administration's Iraq reconstruction contracts. These include:

* Charlie Cray, director of the Center for Corporate Policy
* Svetlana Tsalik*, director of Iraq Revenue Watch
* Keith Ashdown, vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense
* William D. Hartung, author of the forthcoming "How Much Are You Making on the War, Daddy? -- A Quick and Dirty Guide to War Profiteering in the Bush Administration."

The Sustainable Energy and Economy Network (www.seen.org) is a joint project of IPS and the Transnational Institute (Amsterdam). It works in partnership with citizens groups nationally and globally on environment, human rights and development issues with a particular focus on energy, climate change, environmental justice, gender equity, and economic issues, particularly as these play out in North/South relations.
