****AUTONOMISTA TOUR****
Join us all on Sunday, November 9, 2003 for the DC stop on the Autonomista
Tour featuring Argentine and Brazilian activists discussing their
involvement in creative movements against neoliberalism. Hear from
activists involved in day to day struggles and share their experiences of
radical social change.
There will be speakers, an AMAZING interactive puppet show, slide show and
live performance by the Rhythm Workers Union.
There will be two events in DC on Sunday, November 9th.
1.) 2:00pm - 3:30pm, American University, SIS lounge, Tentlytown/AU metro
(redline).
2.) 7:30pm - 9:30pm, St Stephens Church, corner Newton and 16th St NW,
Columbia Heights metro (Green line).
The tour will include:
Brazilian radical peasants who have occupied plantations,
redistributed the land, begun sustainable agriculture/permaculture and
have sued multinational corporations like Shell Oil.
...As well as...
Argentine representatives of the Unemployed Workers Movement who
have occupied and now cooperatively self-manage more than 200
workplaces. The Argentina representatives will speak about their work
reclaiming and maintaining worker-run factories as well as their
resistance to the IMF.
