All out for the October 18th, 1 PM protest in front of Maryland's death
row in Baltimore, MD at 401 E. Madison St.
As many of you recall, last fall Dr. Ray Paternoster and the University
of Maryland completed a 2 1/2 year, $250,000 study Governor-commissioned
study of Maryland's death row. The study confirmed death penalty
critics' worst fears about the death penalty.
The study found that "blacks who kill whites are 2 1/2 times more likely to be sentenced to death than are whites who kill whites, 3 1/2 times more likely than are blacks who kill blacks and almost 11 times more likely to be sentenced to death than 'other' racial combinations."
Despite these results, current Governor Robert Ehrlich has reversed Maryland's
moratorium and has pledged to restore executions. This must not be allowed
to happen! We must fight to restore the moratorium!
