Excerpt from King's historic speech:
"I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.
Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair. I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today. "

Blood on their Hands: Congress Just as Guilty as Bush because they Failed to Stop an Unconstitutional War
Here's a powerful commentary by Jacob Hornberger on an aspect of the current Iraq war controversy that needs to be confronted: the responsibility Congress bears for this bloody war and its bloody afermath:
(excerpt)
" Given that the U.S. Supreme Court has long refused to involve itself in the enforcement of this particular section of the Constitution, there remains only one method by which the people can enforce it. That method lies with a clear pronouncement by Congress that if the president goes to war without the constitutionally required congressional declaration of war, he will be impeached. By failing to do that during the run-up to President Bush’s Iraq war and by unconstitutionally delegating their power to declare war to the president, the members of Congress not only betrayed the oath they took to defend the Constitution, they also betrayed the American people." - Jacob Hornberger

Bush Gets Ready for Invasion # 3: Claims 'Foreign Terrorists" Are Responsible for Iraq Attacks
The thing that amazes me is that the lying, bloodthirsty, greedy, manipulative sorry excuse for a man currently squatting in the White House actually continues to have his statements quoted in lead stories by real newspapers - as if they were actually meaningful (to mention true). Of course, you can be sure that anything coming out of the mouth of Cowboy George "All Hat No Cattle" Bush is neither meaningful nor true. If one of these two variables happens to get injected into his comments from time to time, it is entirely accidental and quickly retracted.
But here even the "Guardian," a decent newspaper amongs the mainstream rabble, has published the latest load of strife-fomenting statements issued from the "Texas Whitehouse" and former pig farm where Bush is currently hiding out. Bush, eager to launch his next invasion, is once more blaming all the unrest in Iraq on "foreign terrorists" who "might be aligned with Al-Queda." Same old line, new day.
" 'Iraq is turning out to be a continuing battle in the war on terrorism,' he told reporters, after meeting business leaders in Washington state. 'I believe there is a foreign element moving into Iraq,' he added, describing insurgents as "al-Qaida-type figures". The US deputy secretary of state, Richard Armitage, said that some of the fighters attacking US forces in Iraq were slipping across the border from Saudi Arabia, Syria and Iran. "The borders are quite porous," he said." Yeah, Dick - just like your boss's head.
So will puppet boy's next target be Iran, Syria or Saudia Arabia? Tough choice. Syria has the oil pipeline running through it that connects Iraq to the Mediterranean Sea. Iran, on the other hand, has dumped the dollar for the Euro and has plenty of untapped oil. But then again, if a Saudi Arabian defeat could overturn OPEC, then the folks at ExxonMobil, Shell, Halliburton, et al will have a clear field - oil field, that is - and be able to shove the dollar (as the oil reserve base) back down the world's throat. Decisions! Decisions!

Four Billion Dollar Plutonium Core Plant Proposed by Bush Cartel Would Make US the World's Supreme Nuclear Dictator
It is euphemistically called the "Modern Pit Facility." What it is is a monster plant designed to crank out as many plutonium cores ("pits") for WMDs EACH YEAR that China has in its entire nuclear arsenal0–900 pits per year. The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists reports that "such bomb-making abilities don’t just knock the moral-political props out from under efforts to stem bomb programs in North Korea, Iran, India, and Pakistan. They’re a felonious frontal assault on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty itself. Thirty-three years after that treaty’s entry into force, U.S. conventional and nuclear forces vastly outstrip those of any other nation, and there is simply no way to reconcile a 17-year plan to build a 50-year nuclear bomb factory with the obligation to negotiate “in good faith” on the “cessation of the arms race” and “nuclear disarmament.” Instead, the Bush team wants such nuclear superiority that, in Rumsfeld’s words, “would-be peer competitors” will realize “the futility of trying to sprint toward parity with us.” " But we want our "would-be peers" to bail us out in Iraq??? But I suppose Bush and Rummy expect them all to line up, salute and chant "HEIL BUSH!"
Guess where the favored site (pushed, of course, by the porkmasters of the GOP) is located? Near Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. The nation's next Rocky Flats - an area in Colorada where a similar operation was once sited that earned the dubious rank of "Earth's most contaminated piece of land." (Although Chernobyl gave it a run for its money later).

US Changes Story AGAIN about UN Attack While Three More Soldiers Die
Many Iraqis blame the US-led "coalition" for the UN attack: "It was the coalition's fault, because it was their job to watch the parking area where the bombing happened... but it seems they were incapable of that," said Mohammed Abdul Aziz, an Iraqi security officer working for the UN. Earlier, the Pentagon tried to claim it offered security to the UN but was turned down. Now the story has changed again, as reported in FOX: "The U.S.-led coalition claims responsibility in the country in general but says it has no obligation to guard specific sites such as the U.N. headquarters and diplomatic missions. U.S. troops are guarding locations such as Iraqi banks and the oil ministry." Meanwhile, Three British soldiers were killed in Basra on Saturday.
With "reporters" like those at FOX on the job, the US can just change its story - and have it reported as fact - until it hits one that works.

Rwanda...Remeber Rwanda? The Oil-less Nation where nearly ONE MILLION People Died While the US Did Nothing?
"Rwandans go to the polls on Monday for the first presidential election since the 1994 genocide in which extremist Hutus slaughtered 800,000 minority Tutsis and moderate Hutus during a three-month carnage. It is widely expected that current President Paul Kagame, a Tutsi, will win easily. Mr. Kagame has ruled the country since his rebel army ended the genocide. His main opponent is Faustin Twagiramungu, a former prime minister and moderate Hutu. Mr. Twagiramungu has openly criticized Mr. Kagame's government, publicly calling it a dictatorship. On Friday, Amnesty International accused the Rwandan government of stage-managing the election in, what it called, "a climate of fear and intimidation." The London-based human rights group charged the Rwandan ruling party with detaining opposition supporters and issuing death threats. The party has denied the charges. For its part, the ruling party is blaming Mr. Twagiramungu of fomenting ethnic divisions. " In short, Rwandan politics and leadership are very much the same as any country that has been destabilized by either 1. The US instigation of a bloody civil war or 2. The US failure to intervene in ad bloody civil war.
Former Intelligence Officer Says Aussie Goverment 'Lied Every Time' about Iraq
Bush's two devoted syncophants, Tony Blair and Australia's John Howard, have learned well at their snakish idol's feet. Howard's government is using classic GOP/CIA tactics to try to smear ex-intelligence officer Andrew Wilkie for speaking out loud and clear about the Iraq war coverup. Wilkie, who refuses to back down, is being called "an hysterical malcontent" and "mentally unstable" by the Howard propaganda brigade. In Canberra this week, Wilkie said the government "skewed, misrepresented, used selectively, and fabricated the Iraq story. The Government lied when the Prime Minister's office told the media I was mentally unstable. The Government lied when it associated Iraq with the Bali bombing and the Government lied every time that it associated Iraq with the war on terror." Go Andrew, Go!

Bush Bash for the week:
"This here is my model of what a healthy forest should look like: no pesky leaves or branches and all ready to ship to the mill!"
When the Secret Service suggested Bush get a double, his first choice had to be tactfully rejected: "Er, uh sir...we're afraid the resemblance is, well, uh not quite strong enough...."
The White House today revealed the new plaque Bush plans to install over his desk.. It should be ready by the time his robes and crown arrive.
