Title: ORGANIZE CRIME or Organized Labor
UGSOA is now a Front for the Raiding SEIU
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
James Carney UGSOA Vice President States on the UGSOA Website

"What happens to a Union when another Union attempts Raid".

The better question is what happens when a Union attempts to Steal Members away from another Union?

"The Union experience an immediate rift with leanings to both Unions. The only party that enjoys a benefit from this kind of division is the Company"

James Carney's statement of fact is true ...... However UGSOA's actions are Anything but the TRUTH !

During the last year UGSOA has embarked on a RAIDING Crusade against other Security Unions around the Country. As part of their master plan the UGSOA had enlisted the the sevices of both the Service Employees International Union - SEIU headed by Andy Stern and the Prewitt Organizing Fund - headed by Duane Stillwell.

Together these Unions and Labor consultanting have been embarked on Raiding other Security Unions from around the United States in their attempt to control the Security Industry.

Their tactics come right out of a UNION-BUSTERS hand book.

They have produced and distributed thousands of Union-Busting Videos.

They have Lied to the members of these other organization, in their attempt to cause dissention and unrest.

They have distrubited false propaganda about these organizations and their officers and representatives. Some personal information upsetting to family members.

They have even gone to the homes of members univited in their attempt to intimidate them and their families.

They have sent letters to the homes of members in their attempt to tstop the dues payments to these Unions.

They have made many False promises of unrealistic wages and benefits not seen in the security industy.

They have set up various FRONTS using the names Front Line Project - NUSP and Ex-SPFPA Members in their attempts deceive these Security Professionals

New York Local Linked to Mob Probe
Three federal indictments and one complaint filed Apr. 26 in U.S. Dist. Court in Brooklyn charged 45 reputed members of five N.Y. crime families with racketeering, murder, and other crimes. Among the charges, Salvatore "Sammy Meatballs" Aparo, Vincent Aparo, Jerry Brancato, Peter "Petey Red" DiChiara, Pasquale Falcetti, John "Johnny Green" Faraci, Ismat Kukic, Alana "Baldie" Longo, Glenn McCarthy, Michael Norrito, Louis "Big Lou" Vallario, and Abe Weider were charged with a scheme to bribe Service Employees Int'l Union Local 32B-32J bosses. The local was formerly run by AFL-CIO boss John J. Sweeney.

Allegedly, in exchange for bribes to be paid by Weider, a building owner, the local would replace union workers with nonunion workers. The Genovese family's "Aparo/DiChiara crew" allegedly solicited help from the Gambino and Bonanno families to identify and contact SEIU bosses who might be willing to accept bribes.

Also, Falcetti and George Barone were charged with conspiring to extort port companies. Barone allegedly oversaw the scheme for the Genovese family. Allegedly, at least one firm was forced to pay about $100,000 to ensure labor peace. [USAO E.D.N.Y., Media Release 4/26/01]

Brooklyn Landlord Gets Light Sentence for Mob Scheme to Bribe Union Officials Brooklyn Landlord Abe Weider received only 4 yrs. probation on Nov. 20 for his part in a Mafia conspiracy to bribe their way into replacing the union at Weider's real estate development. Weider faced between 3 and 4 years in prison under fed. sentencing guidelines, but U.S. Dist. Judge Leo Glasser (U.S.D.C. E.D. NY, Reagan) described Weider's crime as "a marked deviation from an otherwise law-abiding life."

Weider was indicted, along with 45 reputed members of five NY crime families, on Apr. 26 for attempting to use bribery to replace Local 32B-J of the Service Employees Intl. Union with a union friendly to the mob. Weider was charged with paying the $350,000 bribe because he
was "petrified" at the prospect of labor unrest at Vanderveer Estates, acc. to his attny., Victor Rocco, who described Weider as the "victim" of the official taking the bribe. Asst. U.S. Attny. Paul Schoeman reminded Judge Glasser that Weider illegally fired 42 workers who spent nearly a year getting their jobs back. [New York Daily News 11/21/02]

Judge Suggests Aging Crooks Retire
"I suggest at your age . . . you ought to be thinking about getting out of that life, worrying about who's coming knocking at your door putting handcuffs on you." That was the advice of U.S. Dist. Court Justice I. Leo Glasser (E.D.N.Y., Reagan) to two septuagenarians at their May 8 sentencing: John "Johnny Green" Faraci, 79, reputed Bonanno soldier, and Jerome Brancato, 74, reputed Gambino soldier. The two and a third reputed "wiseguy," Gambino capo Louis "Big Lou" Vallario, 60, pled guilty and were sentenced to probation for their roles in conspiring to bribe a union boss of Serv. Employees Int'l Union Local 32B-32J in N.Y.C. There have been nine guilty pleas in the case, plus landlord Abe Wieder and union delegate Ismet Kukic await trial.

Glasser grew annoyed at attempts to downplayed the trio's roles. When Faraci's attorney, Vincent Romano, noted that his client, whose criminal record spans nearly 25 years, had fought in WWII's Battle of Normandy and won the Bronze Star, the unimpressed 78-year old judge snapped, "So did I."

Further, when Glasser asked Faraci whether he had anything to say, an apology to his family for "aggravating" them was not well-received. "You've been doing that, putting your family through aggravation, since 1978," Glasser replied as he flipped through pages of Faraci's rap sheet. [Daily News, N.Y. Post 5/9/02]

Former Employee Indicted for Embezzlement in California Federal Court

On May 13, in the U.S. Dist. Court for the Northern Dist. of California, Adela Tongson, former employee of Service Employees Intl. Union, Local 250, was indicted on two counts of embezzling a total of $100,000 in union funds on Nov. 29 and 30. The charges were brought following a joint investigation by the San Francisco Orleans branch of the U.S. Ofc. of Labor-Mgmt. Standards and the FBI. [OLMS, 5/27/03: U.S.A.O. N.D. CA, 3/13/03]

NLRB Complaint Issued Against Union for Fining Workers during CA Janitors' Strike
After two years of foot dragging, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued a complaint against a powerful California union for illegally coercing 43 janitors, 31 of whom have been fined up to $500 each, for exercising their right to continue working during the so-called "Justice for Janitors" strike in April 2000.
With the help of attorneys from the National Right to Work Foundation, the janitors employed by American Building Maintenance Janitorial Services Company and two other janitorial services, filed unfair labor practice charges with the NLRB against Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1877 alleging unfair labor practices.

In July 2000, Local 1877 union officials started levying the illegal fines and demanded that the janitors pay the fines or perform "community service" such as scrubbing floors at the union hall after a "rolling" strike against various employers during contract negotiations. SEIU union officials hit them with the illegal fines and demands because the janitors chose to work rather than sacrifice crucial family income. Foundation attorneys forced the same union to rescind similar fines against Oakland janitors in 1997.

The NLRB will also prosecute the SEIU officials for failing to notify the janitors of their right to refrain from formal union membership and pay a reduced fee that covers only the cost of activities directly related to collective bargaining. The Foundation-won Supreme Court decision in Communications Workers v. Beck and subsequent NLRB rulings prohibit union officials from requiring formal union membership or the payment of full union dues as a condition of employment. [NRTWLDF 1/13/03]

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- When Bailiff Steve Eiermann and his fellow security guards at the Federal Courthouse in Indianapolis were ordered to pay dues to local bosses of the United Government Security Officers of America (UGSOA), they said "no way."

"You couldnâ??t trust them" he told Foundation Action. "They would tell you one thing and then do the exact opposite. They refused to tell us the truth and play on the level."

Not long after Eiermann refused to pay dues, Local 55 officials sent him a letter threatening that if he did not pay $453 in back dues, the union would sue him. "Mr. Eiermann had the courage to stand up to the union bosses who wanted a piece of his paycheck," said Reed Larson, President of the Foundation. "In retaliation, the union bosses came after him."

UGSOA's power relies on Shakedowns and Extortion

Soon after Eiermann received his threatening letter, he learned about similar actions by a UGSOA local in Rockford, Illinois against four other AKAL Security, Inc. employees who refused to bow to the unionâ??s demands.

However, lawsuits by the UGSOA local officials against the Rockford bailiffs were quashed by attorneys (as reported in the May/June edition of Foundation Action).

After hearing of the victory for bailiffs in the Land of Lincoln, Eiermann contacted the Foundation and requested free legal aid. Right to Work attorneys quickly filed charges against UGSOA Local 55 officials for violating the Foundation-won rights of Eiermann and his co-workers.

Smelling defeat, union bosses skip town

Just two weeks after Foundation attorneys filed charges against union officials, a union steward approached Eiermann and said, "You guys win." You see, UGSOA International President James Vissar informed Local 55 officials that the international union was disaffiliating itself from Local 55 and yanked the local unionâ??s charter due to "low participation of the membership."

"Since few of the rank-and-file workers voluntarily support UGSOA, the union bosses
resort to shakedowns and threats," said Larson.

Today, the dark cloud of compulsory unionism no longer hangs over the bailiffs at the Indianapolis Federal Courthouse.

"There are more than 20 officers here at the courthouse who are really impressed and appreciative of everything the Foundation and its supporters have done for us," said Eiermann.

I hope you can get this messageto the members in the EDNY (Brooklyn).

My name is George Mulligan I am a CSO in Vermont and the Former President of the Union here. I am writting to you about our experience with UGSOA.Vermont was the first Union in the second circuit to affiliate with the UGSOA , and the first union to disaffiliate with UGSOA. The members in vermont felt we were not being served by UGSOA and their leadership.

When we called we were put off or received no responce at all. When we asked the UGSOA to send a representative to Vermont to answer our concerns there was always a reason they could not come. There are still bitter feelings in Veremont about UGSOA and their lack of leadership. In closing, I would urge not to stay with the UGSOA.
