Summit to Build and Consolidate the Raza Press Association

The Raza Press Association (RPA) is making a national call for active Raza publications, newspapers, media-groups, reporters, and all other activists working in media-related efforts to a critically important Summit to Build and Consolidate the Raza Press Association. The Summit will be held at Eastern Michigan University in the city of Ypsilanti, Michigan (1 hour outside of Detroit, Michigan) on Saturday, September 20, 2003 from 12pm-5pm.
The RPA, out of the historic National Raza Press Association Conference held in Oxnard, Califas in September 2002, clearly recognizes that as we move into a new period of struggle against oppression and colonialism, an organized, united and independent national Raza Press Association must be formed and consolidated. Only with this kind of unity and organization can we prepare our gente for the struggle against the brutal and unjust war (i.e., fascist laws, police-migra brutality, militarization our community, etc.) being waged by capitalism-colonialism on our communities and the world.
The objective of the Summit to Build and Consolidate the Raza Press Association is to to develop concrete goals on expanding the association’s membership, working to more significantly disseminate pertinent and progressive information on a national level into our barrios and communities, enhancing the political level and sophistication of the RPA journalism, as well as improving our news-wire service and networking. Participants of this important Summit will work in developing action-oriented proposals and plans of action concretizing the overall objectives of the Raza Press Association.
The Summit is a major component in building momentum and action for the next National Raza Press Association Conference slated to take place in September of 2004. The RPA, an association who’s membership currently consists of student, community, Internet, print and radio media formations, extends a fraternal invitation to all Raza interested in creating new publications and building a national association of progressive, accountable and revolutionary media to join us. The RPA’s goal is to Develop The Means To Wake Up The Masses!
