Students for Peace and Justice (SPJ) formed in January of this year in protest of the Bush administration's unjustified war on Iraq. On that issue, SPJ organized demonstrations, teach-ins, concerts, and walk-outs, an experience which introduced participants to the larger societal ills of which the war was merely a symptom. Since its formation, SPJ has adapted to combat every form of oppression and inequality and to provide a supportive network for community based action.

With love for the total freedom with which every human is born, regardless of any state's irrelevant declarations, we reclaim our rights. With frustration we see apathy sold as consent, greed sold as compassion, aggression sold as security; we resist, we refuse, and this fourth of July we take to the streets.
