The Posters of the ATELIER POPULARE (Popular Workshop) were designed and printed anonymously by the Students and Workers of Paris during their
unprecedented mass strike of May, 1968. Over ten million Workers went out on strike against the conservative policies of the French government.
University Art Students joined the struggle by occupying the main Art School of Paris, creating workshops where Students and Workers collaborated on producing radical street Posters that extolled the rebellion. The Posters were seen on the barricades, carried in demonstrations, and were plastered on walls all over France. The bold and provocative graphic messages were extremely influential and still resonate in our own time.
