On Thursday, May 1st, members of the Student Worker Alliance at Towson
(SWAT) will be hosting a May Day event on the campus of Towson University.
This is to bring awareness to the atrocities of the work environment at
the university and create a space where campus workers, students, labor
rights organizers/supporters, etc. may join together in solidarity with
all of the workers of the world on this International Workers Day.
The space will be set up near the # 8 Bus Stop going south on York Road
across the street from Aigburth Drive. The event will take place from
2pm-4pm. A honk-4-living wage will ocurr during this time as well. We are
asking that all supporters for a living wage and workers rights who are
available to attend please come and join us.
SWAT was formed by students and workers at Towson University to demand and
work towards obtaining a living wage for all workers on the university
campus, fair working conditions, better and realistic benefits, and to
promote awareness about and act on the struggles of all workers around the
world. SWAT also works with a living wage supporting group made up of
faculty as well as working with labor organizers and members of the
surrounding community. For more information please visit our website at
