The resignation of Richard Perle as head of the Defense
Policy Board is a major blow for the Chickenhawks, and their Clash of Civilizations war, which must be exploited to the fullest, to STOP THIS WAR!
Review for a minute the significance of Perle's role.
Perle's career started back in the 1970s, when he was a staffer
on Sen. Henry Jackson's Permanent Investigations Subcommittee,
and began promoting Bernard Lewis and his Clash of Civilizations.
Already at that time, he had a reputation as a conduit of
information to the Israelis, and a 1970 FBI wiretap overheard
Perle discussing classified information with someone at the
Israeli Embassy. He went on from there to be Assistant Secretary
of Defense in the Reagan Administration, where he came close to
being prosecuted for the passing of classified documents to the Israelis.
Perle was a prime suspect for being part of the X
Committee which collaborated with Jonathan Pollard, and he
continued to play a role for the Jabotinskyites after leaving
government, including being part of the producers of the "Clean
Break" document in 1996.
As head of Rumsfeld's Defense Policy Board,
he played a major role in bashing the resistance to the
war in the uniformed military, and brought in that incompetent
Laurent Murawiec, to push the Clean Break line.
Looked at in the historical perspective of the fight in the
early 1930s, Perle, among others, has been acting like the inner
circles around Adolf Hitler, which sat around planning the
assassination of top German military officers who opposed, or
might oppose, Hitler's insane wars of aggression.
Perle, Rumsfeld's leading advisor, was reported, back on August 1, 2002,
to have chaired a July 10 Defense Policy Board meeting where the
members ranted about the uniformed military opposition to the
war, and insisted that "heads would have to roll" among the
military brass, to break that resistance.
Well, now Perle's head has rolled instead.
But, look for the Chickenhawks to make new insane moves.
They are going "ape-shit," and will begin to lash out at the
military who are in increasingly open revolt against Rumsfeld.
WASHINGTON, DC, March 27 (EIRNS) -- PERLE IS THINKING ABOUT
QUITTING THE DEFENSE POLICY BOARD, ANNOUNCED REPORTER SY HERSH
THURSDAY AFTERNOON, at a Middle East forum opposing the Iraq war
at Georgetown University.
Hours later it was officially announced,
Perle had resigned as chairman of the Defense Policy Board
-- and Rumsfeld accepted the resignation,
but asked him to stay on as a member.
On March 17, Hersh's article ``Lunch with the Chairman,''
revealed the first piece of a corruption scandal about Perle's
creation of ``Trireme,'' a company that profits off of wars, and
security threats, especially following the 9/11 attacks.
On March 21, the cover story of {EIR} exposing both Perle,
and his godfather, Dick Cheney, called for Perle to be ousted --
as well as Cheney.
In the last two weeks, other pieces of the file on
Perle's alleged profiteering began to spill out in a tidal wave
of investigation reports: a $725,000 payment from Global Crossing
telecommunications giant; a private briefing to Goldman Sachs
about the wars in Iraq AND North Korea, the defense contracts of
a British firm, Autonomy.

PERLE RESIGNS... NEXT COME THE SWINE. Richard Perle, the
Utopian maniac who was chairman of the Defense Policy Board,
resigned his position today, March 27.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has issued a brief
statement making no mention of why Perle resigned.
He wrote, "He has been an excellent chairman
and has led the Defense Policy Board
during an importnt time in our history. I should add that
I have known Richard Perle for many years and know him to be a
man of integrity and honor."

"RICHARD PERLE'S JOB." Perle protests, in a letter to the
editor of The New York Times appearing today, headlined, "Richard
Perle's Job":
"You write (editorial March 24) that I have `signed on to
represent a major telecommunications company that has a strong
financial interest in lobbying the Defense Department' and that
Global Crossing has retained me `to help persuade the Defense
Department to drop its objections to a proposed sale to foreign buyers.'
"I have not been retained by Global Crossing to help
persuade the Defense Department to drop its objections to a proposed sale.
"I was asked by Global Crossing to help the company
understand the government's security concerns and to advise it
how best to satisfy those concerns.
"The burden of my advice to Global Crossing has been to urge
it to meet the government's concerns and to help it structure safeguards to do that.
"At no time have I urged the Defense Department to drop its
objections to a proposed sale. Richard Perle, Washington, March 24, 2003."
War Is A Racket
Excerpt from a speech delivered in 1933
by: Major General Smedley Butler, former Commandant
USMC
War is just a racket. A racket is best described,
I believe, as something that is not what it seems to
the majority of people. Only a small inside group
knows what it is about. It is conducted for the
benefit of the very few at the expense of the
masses.
I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and
nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight,
then we'll fight. The trouble with America is that
when the dollar only earns 6% over here, then it
gets restless and goes overseas to get 100%. Then
the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow
the flag.
I wouldn't go to war again as I have done to
protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There
are only two things we should fight for. One is the
defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of
Rights. War for any other reason is simply a
racket.
There isn't a trick in the racketeering bag that
the military gang is blind to. It has its "finger
men" to point out enemies, its "muscle men" to
destroy enemies, its "brain men" to plan war
preparations, and a "Big Boss"
Super-Nationalistic-Capitalism.
It may seem odd for me, a military man to adopt
such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I
spent thirty-three years and four months in active
military service as a member of this country's most
agile military force, the Marine Corps.
I served in all commissioned ranks from Second
to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most
of my time being a high class muscleman for Big
Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In
short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.
I suspected I was part of a racket at the time.
Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the
military profession,
I never had a thought of my own
until I left the service. My mental faculties
remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the
orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone
in the military service.
I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for
American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti
and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank
boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping
of half a dozen Central American republics for the
benefits of Wall Street.
The record of racketeering is long.
I helped purify Nicaragua for the
international banking house of Brown Brothers in
1909 - 1912 (where have I heard that name before?).
I brought light to the Dominican Republic for
American sugar interest in 1916. In China I helped
to see to it that Standard Oil went its way
unmolested.
During those years, I had, as the boys in the back
room would say, a swell racket. Looking back on it,
I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few
hints. The best he could do was to operate his
racket in three districts. I operated on three
continents.
