The Cost Of War Is Paid By The Poor
March from Baltimore to Washington D.C.
We call on you to walk with us from Baltimore to Washington DC from April 11 to April 13.
We walk in solidarity with terrified and dying Iraqi children, mothers and fathers. We walk in solidarity with Americans needlessly dying for a war they did not choose. We walk in solidarity with those experiencing the violence of war and occupation in Iraq, Palestine and all over the Middle East.
We know that poor and working class people will pay far more than $75 billion for this war. We walk in solidarity with the hungry whose food stamps are being cut, the veterans whose healthcare is slashed, with the students of under-funded schools, with pensioners losing benefits and with single mothers losing childcare. Our youth are risking their lives while the rich and powerful watch and speculate on military and corporate stocks from their boardrooms and bunkers. We walk because we know that our homes and cities will only be safe when the rest of the world can also live in safety.
We walk because we witness the costs of war being paid right now. The reasons our rulers have given are not good enough. We walk because we refuse to pay this price.
Walk with us to oppose and mourn the human costs of war.
Walk with us to say that another world -- of peace and justice -- is possible.
The march will leave from Baltimore on the morning of Friday, April 11, and arrive in Washington D.C. on Sunday April 13, where thousands will be gathering to protest the violence of global poverty at the annual IMF/World Bank meetings. JOIN US! Participate for any portion or for the full distance.
