In Honor of the Historic Arab Warriors of Umm Qasr who rallied Iraq against the Anglo-American invaders and usurpers: “May the brave martyrs of Umm Qasr bring life to all Arabs and Freedom Fighters throughout all time; Remember Umm Qasr!
US-led forces met fierce resistance in the strategic southern port of Umm Qasr days after the US generals claimed to have controlled it. Similar resistance is building behind the lines of US forces in News channels around the world show scenes of sporadic yet intense clashes in many parts of Iraq.
Despite the air assault and simultaneous ground push to Baghdad, Iraqi state television broadcast images late Saturday of a smiling Saddam in military uniform meeting with his inner cabinet of top advisors. Sadam and his aides lauded the "resistance and heroism" shown by Iraqi troops since war broke out early Thursday.
Saturday a member of Saddam's ruling Baath party was killed in fighting near the Shiite Muslim pilgrimage city of Najaf, 200 kilometres (125 miles) south of the capital.
UNITED NATIONS, March 21 (UPI) -- The Iraqi ambassador to the United Nations Friday sharply criticized U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan for facilitating the coalition attack on Iraq and accused Britain and the United States of threatening Iraq's very existence in aid of "the American and Zionist oil Mafia."
U.S. Battles Calls for Emergency UN Session on Iraq. By Irwin Arieff, March 21, 2003
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United States has launched
a worldwide diplomatic drive to head off the calling of an emergency session of the U.N. General Assembly to condemn the U.S.-led war on Iraq, diplomats said on Friday.
The group of nonaligned nations at the United Nations metearlier this week to consider convening a special session of the 191-nation assembly to denounce the United States. But the group of 166 countries, led currently by Malaysia, failed to agree on whether to go ahead after some argued action was premature as the war had not yet begun, diplomats said.
No new meeting of the group has been set since the invasion began on Wednesday. But "there are a lot of countries talking about that," said Syrian U.N. Ambassador Mikhail
Wehbe. Envoys attributed the disarray among the nonaligned to U.S. diplomatic muscle and said many countries feared offending Washington.
"The United States is putting pressure on many countries to resist," said General Assembly President Jan Kavan of the Czech Republic. U.S. diplomats were opposing a special assembly session and -- if that failed -- to vote against a resolution condemning the United States, Kavan told reporters.
In Washington, a State Department official confirmed the United States was making its case that an emergency session "would not serve the interests of the United Nations."
"We do feel that we have a convincing case (for not calling a session) but the situation is still fluid," the official said.
Unlike the Security Council, whose resolutions can be binding under international law, the General Assembly can make only political statements expressing the sense of the international community.
But an assembly resolution critical of the U.S.-led war would nonetheless be highly embarrassing to both Washington and London. Despite U.S. efforts, Kavan said he thought it "very likely" although "not a certainty" that a special session would be
called as early as next week. If no session were called or a resolution defeated, "it would
be a very clear victory for the United States," he said.
There are several avenues open at the United Nations to foes of the U.S. attack on Iraq. A U.N. member could simply request a special session, which would require an assembly vote to go forward.
Or a U.N member could notify Kavan that the Security Council was deadlocked on the Iraq issue. Kavan would then consult all U.N. members and would be obliged to convene an emergency session if a majority of its members -- at least 96 nations -- gave their consent by return fax.
Iraq said on Thursday it would ask the Security Council to condemn the United States for acting like a "terrorist state" by launching a war in violation of international law -- a move that could be seen as a prelude to declaring the council deadlocked.
Indonesia also wants a council debate and if this fails will ask the assembly to step in, an Indonesian diplomat said.
With or without UN backing Immoral & Unjust
www.kashmirobserver.com/opinion.htm
by Tariq Ali, The Kashmir Observer, March 18, 2003
This war is immoral and unjust, with or without UN backing.
A massive majority in Britain is currently opposed to the war, but the anti-war movement confronts a virtually uniform House of Commons. Both major parties are united and Labour MPs incapable of mounting a parliamentary revolt to ditch Blair, the only thing that could halt the drive to war. The British peace movement, however, has a soft underbelly. A war that is unjustifiable if waged by Bush and Blair alone becomes acceptable to some if sanctioned by the "international community" - ie the UN Security Council. The consciences of those opposed to the unilateralist bombing of cities and
civilian deaths are appeased if the weapons of destruction are fired with UN support. This level of confusion raises questions about the UN today. Do its resolutions carry any
weight if opposed by the US, as has repeatedly been the case with Palestine and Kashmir?
The USA Imperialists Are Caught in A Quagmire of Sin and Annihilation

BUT THE ARABS AND IRAQI PEOPLE FIGHT ON!
“Whoever defends the Iraqi people and dies will be a holy martyr… Sharia Law says we must defend Iraq and stand by its people. If we fail then we have wasted the trust that God has placed us in.” March 21, 2003; Grand shiek Mohammed Sayyed al-Tantawi, clerical leadr of Sunni Muslims speaking inside the historic al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo, Egypt. He calls for a Holy War of Jihad.
35 US mercenary soldiers (war criminals) have been killed or captured in Southern Iraq. The US has lost 4 or 5 multimillion-dollar attack helicopters, including an Apache helicopter captured intact.. Two or three US jet fighter bombers have been shot down and numerous aircraft have been damaged or rendered useless by the wind-blown sand. A US Predator spy plane assassin has also been destroyed. A brave US muslim soldier threw a grenade into a command center tent in Kuwait and killed one and wounded a dozen of the US war criminal military. Other US soldiers are refusing to fight and fears are mounting for the “Reckless, criminal, little Bush” and his war planners that if chemical weapons are used many US soldiers will refuse to move forward and more fragging (killing) of superior officers will occur just as thousands of US officers were killed or wounded by their own troops in Vietnam. (

The US is destroying the ecology of Iraq as it has done in Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan, North America and the Andes Mountains. This all-consuming USA Beast that Walks the Earth (666) is wasting the capital of the world to the tune of 20 billion in direct costs, 35 billion in bribes, and near term costs of 30 to 90 billion more dollars. Fearing a public outcry at this giant waste for death, the Reckless Criminal little Bush never put the costs of the war and the massacre of Iraq in the US federal budget requests. Bush is transforming into a foaming-mouthed teenager. He is afraid of himself. It is rumored that he is The Incarnate and Carnal 666 Beast of the Bible!
These USA losses and fears pale in comparison to the losses of the world, the Iraqis and even the British mercenary allies of the USA Beast.
The US military has killed many British soldiers and several British and other news journalists. The USA shot down a British Tornado jet bomber with one of its improved patriot missile batteries, killing two British pilots. The US has killed over 100 civilians directly and even if the US withdrew now, thousands of wounded and displaced civilians will die from the damage that the US has already committed in its week of War Crimes in direct disobedience of the UN Security Council. Depleted uranium weapons, cluster bombs and highly toxic super-bombs have spread poisons all over Iraq, even high in the mountains where 100 cruise missiles have struck the headquarters of Islamic militia near the border of Iran. Other US missiles have injured people in Iran and killed nearly a dozen people in Syria and Jordan.
The US has bombed Iraqi oil wells and refineries and terribly polluted the ocean around southern Iraq. As the war continues many species will be driven into extinction and the ecology of the Tigris and Euphrates river systems will be terribly impacted. The US plan is to take this war to Iran, Saudi Arabia and Syria so that it can place its own puppet dictators on these thrones. Even the US Special Forces advisor Richard Kaplan admitted this in a March Fresh Air program with Terry Gross on National Public Radio. This expanded US war of conquest will have dire consequences for the people, the ecology and the future of the Middle East, the Near East and the whole planet.(See also:

The list of victims from this reckless and criminal US aggression is broad and unprecedented: Every Arab government, many Moslem governments and several other governments (UK, SPAIN, Brazil, Salvadoran, Polish, Colombian and Australian) are now totally illegitimate having violated the expressed will and expectations of their people. All of humanity is shocked at the awful terrorism that the US is inflicting worldwide.
Another victim is the United Nations which the USA has long cajoled and forced its way with. Now the US cannot even bribe its way in the UN or the UN Security Council. The US was removed from the World Court for “terrorist” attacks on Nicaragua in 1982. The Criminal Little Bush of the Black House unsigned former President Clinton’s signature from the International Criminal Court because this US terrorism and war crimes against Iraq, Palestine, Colombia and Afghanistan were already planned. If the UN does not convene a General Assembly immediately, condemn the US aggression and force the Security Council to intervene then the Reckless Criminal Bush will have been correct in his prediction that the UN was obsolete and irrelevant.
Another victim from the US attacks is the rule of International law and with it trade agreements and currency regimes. The world economy thus will probably sink deep into recession and stagnation and conflict. The myth and image of the nice-guy USA is forever dead. The hope for peaceful change is moot.
In the US there is an ugly dictatorship. It is the dictatorship of 200 million “me-s” and “Me-Firsters.” 200 million fearfully selfish isolated victims of denial and quilt. This terror arises from the primal fear of being wrong about everything. The US is so obviously a failure and a genetic experiment gone wrong. Social engineering for profits with no regard to the long run always means ugliness and failure. Now people everywhere know that the US is a sad and deformed creature whose values and methods must be put to sleep – gently if that were possible.
“We’re going to use Human Bombs against America,” Screamed Mahmoud Ahmed, a marketing executive protesting at the US Embassy in Cairo on March 21. “We will defend Sadam and all Arab people with our blood as we wave Iraqi and Palestinian flags.”
The US is always on the side of violence. The US is violence. Violence is the natural choice of Imperialism and arrogance.
ADDICTS ARE UNPREDICTABLE, DERRANGED AND DANGEROUS.
Most people in the US sense the necessity of “the demise”. They know that their country has gone down a terribly wrong path and it no longer stands for anything except violence – the politics of a crude cave man with a hungry big stick – as the German foreign minister recently called King George’s policies. Yes, GW Bush will go down (literally and journalistically) in history as the last siginificant dictator. Just as in 1770 the people of the world are fed up with taxation (US economic domination/exploitation) without representation – without a voice or a choice or a future under the US boot. The New Boston Tea Party came with Hugo Chavez throwing the agents of the US – Gustavo Cisneros, Carmona, Ortega and Fernandez out into the sea. The Committees of Correspondence are busy in Cairo, Quito, Gaza, Brasilia, Buenos Aires and in World Social Forums across the globe.
Of course the Bush family has been much more perverse, violent and despicable than old King George who the US overthrew in 1776. This US terror, its disease of materialism and the short term thinking that the US breeds and perpetuates around the world keeps the poor of the world from rising up sooner. Like the “merry-old” England of the 1700’s no one in the US has any morality or the guts to fight the lies of Bush's rightwing ravings. Without an opposition to the Bush family terrorism the inevitable global revolution is held back and stunted. The only thing that people hold in high regard about the US is its consumer products. How pitiful. The US is not just an ugly dictatorship to the world and its own people, it is ugly in art and in design.
The war-sickness of the USA is infecting the whole world and forcing people to abandon civic dialog and democratic procedures in order to mobilize increasingly violent resistance to the US and its paid-puppet allies. When change comes it will be enormous and devastating. Already it is unsafe for US and soon for all light skinned Europeans to travel outside of the West. Within a year US and British businesses will be bombed or forced to close through public pressure and boycotts. US and many other airlines are all going bankrupt and costing governments and investors many billions of dollars in subsidies.
The US is the LARGEST CONSUMER OF DRUGS, GUNS AND OIL. It is the MOST ADDICTED and it is the NATION MOST DEPENDENT ON THESE DESTRUCTIVE PRODUCTS. The US is the PERSONIFICATION OF IMMORALITY IN ITS EVERY ASPECT. The US sells HALF OF THE WORLD’S WEAPONS and spends HALF THE WORLD’S MILITARY BUDGET.
A GREAT CONSPIRACY of the US MILITARY, LARGE CORPORATIONS, DRUG LORDS, DEATH SQUADS, MEDIA BILLIONAIRES and INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES dominate the world: CULTURALLY, MILITARILY, and through FEAR, COMMERCE AND BLACKMAIL.
The US is always on the side of violence. The US is violence. Violence is the natural choice of Imperialism and arrogance.
ADDICTS ARE UNPREDICTABLE, DERRANGED AND DANGEROUS.
“Challenges facing the great majority of humanity:
1- U.S. imperialist drive for world domination through the Bush doctrine of "permanent wars"… in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq… North Korea, Iran and the Arab East… Colombia …Cuba and the support for a military coup in Venezuela.
2- The recolonization of Latin America via the imposition of ALCA [FTAA] and the transfer of sovereignty to a U.S. controlled ALCA commission. Washington's application of the doctrine of "extra-territoriality", which asserts the right of the U.S. to override international and national laws. The rejection by the U.S. of the International Criminal Court in order to allow its military forces to commit crimes with impunity. The U.S. has assumed the "right" for its military and intelligence agents to commit homicide - to assassinate - political adversaries within the frontiers of any country.

An-Nasiriya. Both warring sides employed large numbers of tanks and artillery. More than 20,000 troops of the US 3rd Motorized Infantry Division, supported by 200 tanks, 600 other armored vehicles and 150 artillery pieces, were opposed by the Iraqi 3rd Army Corps consisting of up to 40,000 troops, up to 250 tanks, more than 100 artillery, up to 100 mortars and 1000 rocket propelled grenade launchers (RPG) and anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM). The two-day battle ended without any significant results.
The Americans have failed in trying to use their momentum in capturing An-Nasiriya and attempted to encircle the town from the west, where they encountered strong layered Iraqi defenses and forced to withdraw. The Iraqi forces used this opportunity to attack the US flanks with two brigades, breaking the US combat orders and causing panic among the US troops. The US command was forced to halt the advance of its forced toward An Najaf and once again redirect several tank battalions to support the attacked units. Nearly 6 hours was needed for the US aviation to stop the Iraqi attack and restore combat order of the US forces.
Take a few precious minutes for something that should work - Uniting for Peace!

The the way the U.N. keeps the peace when a permanent member of the Security Council
is an aggressor. Uniting for Peace (UN Resolution 377) empowers the General Assembly to call up peacekeeping troops, when the Security Council is blocked - as it has been for
months. Because keeping the peace is the U.N.'s basic mission, the General Assembly can call on members within 24 hours "to take effective collective measures for the prevention...
of acts of aggression."
It’s a last chance to save the children of Baghdad from the Mega-Terror of "Shock, Awe"
and hundreds of thousands of horrible deaths.

The Antiwar Anti-Semites: Peace protest organizers tolerate no dissent.
by Michael Lerner 7:09pm Wed Feb 12 '03 (Modified on 2:05pm Thu Feb 13 '03) SAN FRANCISCO--Imagine my surprise when I found out that I am banned from speaking at a peace rally here this Sunday. As editor of Tikkun, the largest-circulation liberal Jewish magazine in the world, I have been an outspoken critic of the proposed war in Iraq. I have also unequivocally condemned Saddam Hussein's brutality and called for the world community to bring him to justice for crimes against humanity. But we at Tikkun do not believe that this war--in which thousands of Iraqi civilians are likely to die--will bring democracy to the Middle East. Instead, it is bound to increase the threat of terrorism to American citizens and provoke more violence. It will also fuel American fantasies of world economic and political domination.

Global: two different worlds by Stephen Roach 4:32pm Wed Feb 12 '03
. . . in sharp contrast with that of 1991, it’s a US-centric world that is still picking up the pieces from the greatest bubble of them all. It’s a world whose sole growth engine is now sputtering and coming to grips with an energy shock every bit as large as that which triggered recession in 1990–91. It’s also a world that has utterly failed to uncover a new source of growth. Global: two different worlds ; By: Robert Rudnicki

US general: 'West is failing Afghans'
Kabul: Pace of reconstruction 'frustrating' says military chief From Phil Reeves in Lahore, Pakistan 23 March 2003 As American and British cruise missiles create havoc in Baghdad, a US general has accused the West of failing to do enough to rebuild the last country visited by President Bush's military – Afghanistan. His remarks come amid widespread fury in the international community over the US-British invasion of Iraq, coupled with concern that the onslaught began before adequate preparations had been made for a possible humanitarian crisis.
