This Friday, the Towson Anti-war Coalition hosted "Rock Against the War", a benefit show for the coalition. TAWC raised a great sum of money from this event, and everyone enjoyed the progressive and fun experience. Baltimore County police were on hand but basically observed the event from outside.
The show had a great feeling of activism, with so many young people gathered in the spirit of peace and justice. We cannot express enough how much this means to TAWC, Towson, and to the entire world. We have effectively localized the struggle against this pointless war.
Tablers from the show said that they had a very busy night of handing out leaflets and discussing political and progressive issues with the mostly high school aged crowd that attended the show (well over 100 people).
Thought time was short at some points, there were no problems and the folks at the church were very satisfied with the event (which means it may happen again!). TAWC would like to thank all those who came and supported the group and our efforts, as well as the efforts of the entire anti-war movement. We are seriously gaining ground and becoming more than a loose group of protests...

For more info on high school organizing, I urge you to visit one of the most important and amazing groups I have encountered recently, Students for Peace and Justice. This group of high schoolers (starting in DC and Montgomery County) have organized walk outs with hundreds and sometimes thousands of high schoolers involved, as well as great demonstrations and events that have brought many people together in a great nature.
If you are in high school and want to get things organized, consider launching a chapter of SPJ in your school, and feel free to contact them for assistance! Check them out here at

Keep the pressure on!
