On Monday, February 24th, over 400 food service workers employed by HMS Host at Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) Airport won union representation with the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union, (H.E.R.E.) Local 7.

The victory came after nearly 2 years of organizing to build a strong committee of leaders and successfully pushing HMS Host to sign a neutrality/card-check agreement, which prevented the company from campaigning against the union.

In the coming weeks, the workers' leadership committee will organize mass meetings of the rest of the workers, determine their demands for a contract, and begin negotiating with the company. HERE Local 7 looks forward to involving these new members in the life of our union and other social justice campaigns in the future.
