WEBSITE WILL COUNT PEACE DEMONSTRATORS NATIONWIDE
A new web site, peacedemo.org, has been developed in an attempt to count the total number of peace demonstrators nationwide.
John Kromko, a former Arizona state legislator, who helped to develop the site, said that opposition to the war with Iraq is growing dramatically.
He said that the national media typically reports only the number of protesters in a few large cities, which shields our elected officials from seeing the true depth of opposition to the war. He felt that if they could see a nationwide picture, many of them would change their minds about supporting the war.
This weekend, there will be major peace demonstrations in many large cities.
But, Kromko said, a huge number of smaller cities and university towns will also have demonstrations that should be counted.
peacedemo.org, invites reporters, officials, and citizens who are present at peace demonstrations all over the country to enter the attendance at that event.
After verification, the attendance will be added to the database that everyone can access. People will be able see the attendance at single events, or all events in each state, or the nationwide total.
