A highly mysterious group of undisclosed individuals has started a fund to give grants to small activist groups and projects, insiders confirm.
The committee has advised that interested groups or individuals should contact ibcaf-AT-mailpanda.com to get the grant application. The secretive grant committee, reportedly calling themselves the "Illuminati Brotherhood Conspiracy of Activist Financing" (IBCAF) reportedly has approximately $3,000 and is willing to give it out in chunks of up to $1,000 to deserving groups to fight oppression and create positive change.
"The fund seeks to give money to help groups start up, as well as to fund existing ones. Grants can be for long term use or single projects," said one informant, who denied membership in the Brotherhood and declined to identify herself or anyone in the order.
"Applicants will be asked to show how they deal with social problems, both by confronting them from the root and as symptoms," she expounded. When asked if the Conspiracy was part of a greater one to achieve GLOBAL DOMINATION, the informant declined to comment.
Grant proposals, the first part of the grant process, are due April 2, 2003. Questions should be directed to ibcaf-AT-mailpanda.com.

These funds should only be used for activism. They can be used either for continual use by groups (i.e. a van for food distro or a computer for organizing) or they can go towards specific projects (i.e. a demonstration or a direct action). If you are planning to use the funds for a specific project, you will need to describe the project as well as the group.

Instead of giving you money, we would rather give the grant in the form of the equipment you need, or pay bills directly. If we decide that's not feasible, we will give you money but ask for proof of your purchases. Frugality is highly stressed. There is not much money in the fund, and funds will be granted as efficiently as possible.

We may fund some of the requests in your grant proposal but deny others if we find them too expensive or unnecessary. If an item costs more than the $1000 limit, we may be willing to fund that part of it if you can show that you will raise enough elsewhere to cover the rest of the cost.

A small number of groups will be chosen from the initial applications, to continue the application process. If you make it to this second round, someone from the fund will want to meet you and your group. If possible, we will travel to your location and take part in activities or meetings. In doing this we hope to meet a good part of your group and see how it functions. We'll make our final decisions once we have met all the groups in the running.
