Report Documents Some Tea Party Leaders' Links with Racist and Xenophobic Groups

After months of conservative activists brandishing racist signs at anti-Obama Tea Party movement rallies around the country, delegates at last summer's NAACP convention unanimously passed a resolution condemning white supremacist elements within the Tea Party, and called on the group's leaders to repudiate members who spread a message of bigotry and hate. When Congress passed the health care reform bill in March, tea party activists protested on Capital Hill, with some hurling racist epithets, and even spitting at members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
