California Governor’s Race: Republican Gubernatorial Candidates Fueling Immigration Fires

Stewart Alexander says, if elected governor, he will work with the US Department of Justice to challenge Arizona’s new immigration law; “I believe it is unconstitutional and will adversely affect Mexican-Americans, Muslims, Blacks, and working people.”

A fire is raging across America over Arizona’s new immigration law, SB 1070; and typical to the top two GOP California gubernatorial candidates, where there is a fire, they show up with gasoline. Arizona SB 1070 is a legislative act in the state of Arizona that is the broadest and strictest anti-illegal immigration measure in decades.

During this 2010 Election year, a vast majority of California voters have been more concerned about what the candidates will do to create jobs, solve the state’s financial crisis, address the escalating cost to receive a higher education, and what Sacramento will do to create a viable alternative to the health care bill that recently passed in Congress. Instead, Republican Meg Whitman and her GOP gubernatorial rival Steve Poizner have both made immigration their number one campaign issue to win Republican votes in the June 8th Primary.

Stewart Alexander, a PFP Candidate for Governor, recently blasted the campaign tactics of Meg Whitman for using racism and discrimination to win Republican votes. Alexander stated that he didn’t expect anything less from Steve Poizner. “These two Republican candidates are out of touch with the needs of working people; and therefore, both candidates launch attacks against immigrants and working people to win conservative votes.”

Alexander has also charged that Whitman and Poizner are opportunist; “Both candidates have jumped on a hot button and highly emotional issue, such as immigration, and have failed to present plans that will put 2 million Californians back to work.” Whitman and Poizner have presented plans that will create a limited number of high tech jobs; however, their job creation programs will not solve the need to create lower skilled jobs or to address California’s economy that is now producing millions of under-employed workers.

Stewart Alexander says, if elected governor, he will work with the US Department of Justice to challenge Arizona’s new immigration law; “I believe it is unconstitutional and will adversely affect Mexican-Americans, Muslims, Blacks, and working people.”
