A Somali man accused of trying to kill a Danish cartoonist whose images of the Prophet Muhammad enraged Muslims in 2005 was charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Danish police shot and wounded the 28-year-old man after he broke into Kurt Westergaard’s home in Aarhus armed with an axe and a knife.
The man, who has not been named, has also been linked to a plot to blow up Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, in Africa. The Danish newspaper Politiken, quoting unamed Danish sources, said that he was held by Kenyan authorities but later released due to lack of evidence, adding that Danish authorities knew of the alleged plot against Mrs Clinton.
