Clueless Media Coverage of City Hall Protest for p2p funds

I'm totally struck how the reporter fails to get even the basic facts of the protest correct - not one mention of peer 2 peer mentoring, no explanation that these aren't just jobs the students are fighting for, but jobs which help students help students learn.
Here's the article in case the story is pulled from online:

Students Want More Money For After-School Jobs

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― There was an unusual overnight protest on the Baltimore City Hall lawn.

As Gigi Barnett explains, students want more money for after-school jobs.

Tents on the Baltimore City Hall lawn are part of a silent overnight protest by students, looking for more money to save their after-school jobs.

"We've constantly and constantly asked to meet with the mayor and she just refuses to meet with us," said Damian Poole.

Students decided to camp out after city school leaders decided to put their jobs on the chopping block.

Experts say many high school students find after-school work to pay for graduation and college expenses. Now they're turning to Mayor Sheila Dixon, asking her to spare their jobs.

"I hope that we can get through to the mayor so we can get the money so we can reach the lives we're here to reach," said Terrance Porter.

But faced with a struggling economy and a shrinking budget, Dixon said this: "Right now with the recession and not having a surplus and with the schools, some of those programs came out of the school system, so I really would encourage those young people to go back to the CEO and the school board commission to incorporate in their budget some of their programs as well."

Plus, Dixon says she's out of cash because she just increased the city's contribution for after-school activities to $18 million a year, a $7 million increase.

"I'm already doing our part, and we're doing it under a very tight, constrained budget. That's the bottom line," she said.

Just goes to show you why social justice movements need to build their own media!
