Construction of the Inter-County Connector at the Shady Grove site is keeping people in Derwood awake with 24-7 jackhammering, etc. Neighbors report the problem is worst at about 10PM. The purpose of this work? To bury a Mill Creek tributary in culverts!

PROTEST THE ICC AT CLARK CONSTRUCTION!
March 7 at 4PM
The excuse given by the ICC's builders is a March 1 permit deadline to bury the stream. This is supposedly to protect spawning trout(previously reported only in Paint Branch). Only thing is, building and opening the ICC will ensure NO trout in ANY of these streams in the future!

In addition, this Mill Creek tributary is now banked in bare, uncontrolled mud-one rainstorm away from a sediment control disaster for Mill Creek! This of course is after ICC supporters have been claiming the ICC has the best sediment control of any construction site in the US-now shown to be another LIE...

This permit issue seems to be yet another cynical attempt by the ICC's backers to drive a wedge between environmentalists and those fighting to protect our neighborhoods from developer and highway builder greed.

This has been going on ever since former MD governor Erlich brought the project back from the dead in 2003. The whole "Rock Creek Option C" plan to "protect" Mill Creek by rerouting the road through Cashell Estates has been shown to be a SCAM by the recent work in Derwood at a Mill Creek tributary.

Putting this creek in culverts-and bare mud for now, shows this is NOT about protecting the environment, but instead about preventing the ICC's neighbors and environmental advocates from joining forces. Just one problem-it does NOT work with any pro-Earth group that refuses to compromise and accepts only cancellation of the entire project!

This is just the beginning of a campaign to drive away contractors and subcontractors to SHUT DOWN the construction!
