(I've seen Lifeboat many times but this latest viewing completely took me in. what an incredible film; it is another example of Alfred Hitchcock's peerless skill.

Tallulah Bankhead heads a note-perfect cast. During WWII, a group of shipwrecked people on a lifeboat who regard themselves as civilized unwittingly rescue the German captain who sank the ferry they were on. Eventually, the conditions deteriorate and mob rule prevails.

The 96 minutes fly by. There isn't a dull scene in my view. My favorite scene is near the end. When Connie (Ms. Bankhead) implores the remaining survivors not to give up hope, that's when the film reaches the zenith for this blogger.

Too bad so many people today think there's nothing cooler than getting a great house and a joke job in exchange for crushing independent culture. It sure would be fun trying to scale Mount Hitchcock in cinema today.)
