Press Release of our intent to Picket Walden Security at CDC in Atlanta GA.
When : Beginning September 13 , 2007
Time: 12:00 pm
Place: 1600 Clifton Rd, Atlanta, GA 30333
This press release is to inform the media, local politicians, local unions and the public of the International Union, Security Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA) intention to commence informational picketing at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) at 1600 Clifton Rd, Atlanta, GA 30333 beginning September 13. 2007 at 12:00 pm against Walden Security.
Our dispute: Walden Security a Tenn company hired to provide security services at CDC has made a “ best and final offer in negotiations with the SPFPA.
Walden Security best and final offer is an insult to the 280 plus security professionals protecting various CDC facilities in Atlanta, GA. Walden Security is offering pay and benefits far below what the SPFPA has negotiated for the security professionals working for both Alpha Security and Coastal security officers working at the IRS facility in Atlanta, GA, despite the fact they perform the same services for the U.S. Government in the same area under the same Service Contract Act.
Over 100 Picketers, Family members, Supporters, Politicians, Church Leaders, Labor Leaders, and Media, expected to attend this event.

Obviously the “ final offer” is not fair. We must work together to ensure that Walden’s final offer in fact properly compensates the security professionals for the valued services they perform so well.
Over the last few months, Walden security has engaged in bad faith bargaining in several instances. The SPFPA has filed an unfair labor practice charge against Walden Security that is being investigated by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The SPFPA is confident that the NLRB will find merit to the charge, issue a Complaint and proceed to trial against Walden Security.
In addition to these legal proceedings that we have instituted against Walden Security, we are exploring public activities, and the possibility of calling an Unfair Labor Practice
