Like the classic "Out of the Past (1947)", "Angel Face" is another Robert Mitchum film where he must choose between two women; one pure and wholesome who offers him a lifetime of happiness; and the other one dangerous. As with Out of the Past, Mitchum makes the wrong choice here and we've got another disturbing ending.

i like how in 1952 ambulance drivers will wear sportcoats, ties and bowties when relaxing in a diner in their off hours. Also, once again note that you can smoke tobacco anywhere—in homes, hospitals, diners. Mitchum himself, arrested for using marijuana, reminds us that in this era you could not smoke cancer-curbing pot anywhere.

this time the landscape that the impossibly cool Mitchum has to cope with is a woman's mind. Jean Simmons is especially good as Diana, the lonely rich girl who schemes to win at love.

'Angel Face' shows four people making romantic choices. There are also time limits. One simply can't expect for the other to wait indefinitely when you're deciding between good girl and bad.
