Compiled by Bob Nixon
• Although Iraq has access to two of the largest bodies of water in the region, the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers, farmers haven't been able to get enough access to water to grow their crops. Bechtel, the U.S. contracting giant with friendly ties to the White House, left the country before fulfilling projects in its $2 billion contract. • SEIU President Andy Stern raised concern when he invited politicians, labor and business leaders - including Lee Scott of Wal-Mart - to participate in a gathering of the Better Health Care Coalition. • Federal judges in California have called for the creation of a new judicial panel to consider placing a cap on the state's surging prison population.
