(On Dangerous Ground is a film that slowly draws you in. there is so much ugliness in Robert Ryan's Jim Wilson, the over-the-top, Fascist cop, that it takes some effort not to give up on the story. however, when Wilson is sent to (Colorado, evidently) to investigate a girl's death the film opens up, the desolate landscape serving to open us up emotionally.

very slowly a new Wilson emerges. When he meets Ida Lupino's (blind) Mary Malden, cinematic magic takes place. i won't spoil it, but you will see why this film had to be made, and why i'm now recommending that you see it.

there's hope for all of us when we learn to accept what is; to surrender.

btw, On Dangerous Ground is a great one to throw at the lonely ones during Artscape. my hat is off to the House of Mao.)
