(The Golden Door recalls a time when people wanted to live in America; i.e., before the US government was nuking New York City and unleashing scalar weapons upon large, unsuspecting populations.

The Golden Door conveys the struggles that immigrants had as they arrived in the former US. this is a hopeful film with an awful cheat at the end. i like the cinematography, but not the direction. I like the acting; Charlotte Gainsbourg and Vincenzo Amato as the mysterious English woman and determined Sicilian farmer are both quite good.

The Golden Door is worth a look. The immigrants who made it here gave up their lives in the Old World to do it.)
