I recommend 'Mafioso', a black-comedy about Sicily and its Mafia. It has an unusual plotline. the moment when the film reaches maximum interest is at the end. it doesn't milk much time after the climax is reached.

It is quirky, odd. I like the direction. i also like the way the scenes flow into each other.

Alberto Sordi does a great job in the lead. Film buffs should not miss "Mafioso".

*WARNING: SPOILERS*

I've seen 'Out of the Past' about a dozen times. this is the quintessential film noir. the ending is really fatalistic. Mitchum's character doesn't deserve what happens to him. "Out of the Past" sure leaves you feeling empty when it concludes.

every scene works. Mitchum's impossibly cool character inspires a lot of men to want to be like him. Jane Greer is evil personified. Virginia Huston is wonderful as the good girl left behind. Rhonda Fleming is outrageously hot. In addition, 'Out of the Past' is also unusual in that the bad guy, Whit (Kirk Douglas), is very likeable.

One of the great qualities of "Out of the Past" is how memorable the characters are, even in the smaller roles. You do not see the same depth of characterization in today's CIA-movies (obviously).

If you haven't seen 'Out of the Past' you're denying yourself the opportunity to see film noir at its zenith. This is absolutely great stuff.

It is sad watching this great film knowing that nothing remotely close to it can be made or screened today. the CIA controls all film production; they've also got many of the theaters around the country.
