Blindness alone can not account for all the mistakes made on account of the present day Kosovo Crisis. Human ego is miraculously resilient and without fail, tends to bring decision which are both fast, stupid and of no long term benefit.

The Berlin Congress of 1878 comes to mind, but the outcome was a longer lasting peace. I am certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that the present recipe for Kosovo will lead to much future unrest. The most prominent examples are Abhkazia, Chechnya, Rwanda, The Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, trans-Dniester region, etc. etc. Any half-ass legitimate entity will now have some un-spelled rights towards separation or secession. Alsace-Lorraine, Provence, Aragon, Andalusia, Bavaria, Prussia, Catalonia, etc. etc.

Who will be wise enough to reverse all the forthcoming divisions?

Nobody.

It seems that we are getting closer to the day some (yet un-named) Hitler is born and some terrible disaster would befall most of today’s Europe. To that end, Nostradamus was only a skilled mathematician who had a decent command of arithmetic. Once you have so much injustice, selfishness and blindness guide an entire continent some greater force of destruction becomes not only imminent but desirable as well.

The intent of partitioning Serbian province of Kosovo establishes and re-affirms new cartographer’s dream. Don’t we have the right to look into (re)creating Bessarabia, Walachia, Rumelia, Banat, Cypress, Crete and other city states along the way? Unless we go even further back in history and revert to city-states (Athens, Padova, Florence, Venice, Rome, etc.)? All human progress, all science, all knowledge is here swiftly put aside and the lack of balance in EU present day politics (absence of Warsaw pact) created a vacuum now filled with all sorts of shady characters looking to create kingdoms for many landless kings.
