(here's a brief summary behind the logic of gun control in the US:

1. the 1939 US Supreme Court (US v. Miller) decided that the Second Amendment was a reference to state militias. the beginning of the clause: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State…".

this is based on the idea that if you look at the Constitution as a long piece of paper, the definition of "militia" has clearly been specified well before the Amendments to the Constitution arrive. From this analysis, the opening clause binds the Second to the specification of a state militia.

2. this interpretation by the 1939 SCOTUS has been reaffirmed by 7 or 8 Federal appeals courts.

3. Legally, it is a slam dunk that the Second doesn't guarantee that individuals have firearms. however, the Second DOES say that individuals in well-regulated State militias must be able to arm themselves. That's a whole different ballgame.

4. it is only a matter of time that handguns are made that fire depleted uranium. Or handguns that can fire nuclear power. Military and Punishment Technology is racing, with every new month new forms of killing/punishment are coming out.

5. the technology is advancing so rapidly that we must use the Courts' interpretation of the Second or life on Earth will be hardly worth living if everyone is packing heat that can wipe out large numbers of people.

so when is it acceptable to demand some gun control in this country?)

the writing is very dry and clever. i love how the two leading characters glide between the corporate and night-club environments.

this is a taut caper thriller
with a memorable romance thrown in for kicks.

Totally a cut above American films. Read My Lips is great stuff.)
