having seen The Cranes are Flying a second time i'm totally staggered. this is the greatest anti-war movie ever made. It is an astonishing achievement. Cinematic perfection.

sometimes all the pieces come together in a work of art and the resulting creation can change your life. this is what Mikheil Kalatozishvili accomplished. The Cranes are Flying is so inexplicably wonderful that watching it is a singularly unique and memorable experience.

the sequences are dazzling. no one has ever used a subjective camera as powerfully as Kalatozishvili does here. From start to finish this film is magnificent.
